Rouge: natural wine and craft beer in the Krutenau
Natural wine, beer brewed next door, boards to share: the bar that sums up the Krutenau, and one of the best rated young addresses in the quarter.

The verdict
Rouge is the concentrate of what the Krutenau does best right now: a list of natural and biodynamic wines (unfiltered, with little or no added sulphur, farmed organically) chosen with real care, craft beer brewed a few kilometres away, boards to share and no ceremony at all. Its Google score still rests on a small number of reviews, the bar being young, but it says a lot about the welcome the quarter has given it.
What to drink
Natural wine by the glass in constant rotation, local beer on tap, and house cocktails for evenings of infidelity to the grape. The boards, regional cheese and charcuterie, follow the same sourcing as the glasses.
Visiting tip
No bookings: arrive before 8pm at the weekend if you want a table, or try a weekday, which is quieter. It also makes the ideal starting point for a Krutenau crawl, with Le Purgatoire and Café Bretelles a few streets away.
