Maison Rouge: elegance in the heart of the Grande Île

Maison Rouge, the hotel on Place Kléber in Strasbourg

The verdict

Maison Rouge (Autograph Collection) holds the most strategic position in the city: Place Kléber, the exact centre of the Grande Île. To it the hotel adds a hushed sort of elegance and a full spa: hammam, sauna, jacuzzi and Cinq Mondes treatments. In December you step out of the lift and straight into the Great Christmas Tree.

The rooms and the spa

Carefully decorated rooms, and a basement wellness area that fills up nicely after a day on cobbles. Spa offers for two turn up regularly and are the sharper deal: on position and facilities together, this is one of the best equations in the centre.

Booking tip

For the Christmas market (late November to 24 December) this is the zero-logistics address: every market on foot, the tree under your windows. The trade-off is the calendar. December is booked months ahead, and weekend nights go from the summer onwards.

Book this hotel: for a stay during the Christmas market, book several weeks ahead. It is the busiest fortnight of the Strasbourg year and the good rooms go first.
