Hôtel D: the shrewd wellness bet by the cathedral

Hôtel D, Strasbourg city centre

The verdict

The Hôtel D ticks the boxes without showing off: a contemporary four star a few minutes' walk from the cathedral, with a complete wellness area (hammam, infrared sauna, whirlpool bath, gym) and one of the most flexible pricing policies in the centre.

For scale, four star rooms in Strasbourg run €170 to €230 a night in mid season. The Hôtel D drops well under that in the quiet months, which is where its reputation comes from.

The rooms and the spa

Modern, efficient rooms, and a relaxation area that does exactly its job after a day on foot. In season it costs what a central four star costs; in autumn, and in winter outside the holidays, noticeably less.

Booking tip

This is the clever address for the 2026 Christmas market: a position inside the ring of chalets, a spa to thaw out in, and December rates that stay below the grand hotels next door if you book from the autumn onwards.

Book this hotel: for a stay during the Christmas market, book several weeks ahead. It is the busiest fortnight of the Strasbourg year and the good rooms go first.
